You know that feeling when whiskey lips just happen to be the exact thing you didn’t know you needed, and one minute you’re laughing at some dumb joke over ice cubes, the next you’re pressed against the kitchen counter while your best friend watches from the couch with that half-smile she gets when things are about to spiral? It started so casual, her refilling my glass every time I got too chatty, my head getting lighter with each sip, and then she leaned in to fix my necklace and her breath was all warm sugar and bourbon, and I just froze. She didn’t pull away, just let her fingers trail down my collarbone, and I could feel the heat radiating off her skin like we were already tangled up somewhere private. We stumbled into the bedroom with our shoes still on, laughing at how ridiculous we looked, but that laughter died real quick when she pushed me onto the mattress and hovered over me, that look in her eyes saying we were past the point of turning back. Her mouth found mine and it was slow at first, tentative, like we were testing how far we’d let this go, but then her tongue slid against mine and I forgot about the half-empty bottle on the nightstand, forgot about everything except the weight of her on top of me and the way her hands kept gripping my thighs like she was anchoring herself. I remember whispering something stupid like “we shouldn’t” but neither of us meant it, and she just laughed against my neck before trailing kisses lower, and god, the way she looked up at me with those dark eyes while her fingers worked the button of my jeans made my whole body ache in ways I still think about. There was this moment where everything went quiet, just the hum of the ceiling fan and her breathing, and she asked if I was sure, and I pulled her back up and kissed her hard enough that she got the message without me having to say a word.
