Stuck in Bunk Bed: The Best Must-Have Hostel Tale

I still can’t believe I got stuck in bunk bed like that, honestly one of the most ridiculous things that’s ever happened to me. It was my second night in this cramped hostel in Lisbon, and I’d climbed up to the top bunk after a few too many sangrias, wearing nothing but this thin little tank top and shorts. The guy in the bed below me, Tom, was this quiet Irish musician I’d been flirting with all evening. When I tried to scoot down to grab my phone, my foot wedged between the mattress and the metal frame, and I just froze, half hanging off the side, laughing and panicking at the same time. He stood up, saw the whole ridiculous situation, and instead of just helping me down, he kind of paused, his hands on my hips, and something shifted. The laughter faded into this heavy, electric silence. He tugged me free, but then he didn’t let go, and I didn’t want him to. We ended up right there, me bent over the edge of that creaky bunk, his hands gripping my waist, then later me straddling him on the narrow mattress, the frame squeaking with every slow roll of my hips. It was messy and cramped and we kept bumping elbows against the wall, but God, the way he looked at me, like I was the only thing in that whole noisy hostel. We didn’t sleep much, and the next morning my back ached from the springs, but I couldn’t stop smiling.
